A New York Muse

New York is definitely one of the most famous cities in the world, and not only for what it has represented throughout history, books, movies, and so many other events since its founding. But for many, it is also a part of their lives, for the memories it can evoke, even if we have never been there in person, because it is the city that has touched our lives in some way. That is why New York is so magical.

I didn’t want to leave unnoticed one more protagonist (perhaps the most important), since I am talking about New York City, which hasn’t only been the star in my book, but the protagonist in many stories in which it has been immortalized through songs, music videos, movies, series, books, art, documentaries, fashion, technology and countless historical events. The history of the world cannot be complete without mentioning New York, where it is not only an American city, but I would dare to say, a world city where almost all cultures of human beings, their beliefs, dreams, conquests, victories, defeats, hopes and future merge. Who has not fallen in love with New York?

Personally, I grew up watching movies where its development was many times the city of New York, where I had the opportunity to know its spaces, its monuments, streets, buildings and parks, its climate and the chaotic and pleasant rhythm of its day to day, but at the same time, that contemplative night beauty from which emerge great memories captured in visual prints that remain in our memory. Ironically, I haven’t had the opportunity to know it personally, but through, as I repeat, so much that has been written, published and documented about the city. I have walked through the youtubers who make their tours and show us their spaces, it's like being there, or at least it happens to me, when my eyes go into the screen and I get carried away by what I see. I love geography, urban layouts, and New York is ideal to make me addicted to its presence. Of course, I researched and enthusiastically researched each of the places I describe in the book, their surroundings, addresses and commercial turns, as well as historical and natural landmarks. It was a pleasure to write about this beautiful protagonist, New York. I know I have cancer, and my timing is uncertain, but that doesn't take away the illusion of one day getting to know New York, personally. I swear I would die very satisfied.

I would like to say in life, that three times New York made me fall in love. When I met her through the media, when I wrote my book #Millennials in New York, and when... I finally met her in person. This book is about dreams too, and I'm content to hold on to that dream, just to meet New York in person. And if not, I know that the day I must leave, New York will be in my blood and in my heart. Because this beautiful city hasn’t only enamored not only me, but so many generations.

      I L♥VE NEW YORK
